Headflap's 8 weeks is up. But right at the tail end there WMUR Marquette Radio asked our promoters to ask us/me to create a station i.d. in which we say our name and the station name and catchphrase. So I will try to do version 1 today. Just me, real basic, shoot them the mp3 in the evening. I will see the 'mates in a week or so. If they dig the idea, we'll recordan expanded version at some point.
The station is on spring break now and programming is optional for the students. So I'lll play their podcast and doze til lunchtime. It's important to sleep with a good college radio station as a way to get to know it.

८ओल्लेगे रेडियो प्रोमोतिओं वीक 8
I'm not totally sure why the blog post titles appear in foreign characters but I'll fix it. Headflap's 8th week of college radio promotion ended pretty damn strong. Better than all previous weeks and that of course is the point. I have the raw data in front of me, the airplay consultant sends me analysis on Monday or Tuesday so more info to follow...

कॉलेज रेडियो Promotion Week 7
Milwaukee, WI WI WMUR RADIO reports: "Headflap was checked out for review by a dj, but he hasn't brought it back yet." We will follow up next week and make sure he does!"
And that pretty much sums up the main risk of promoting ones music to college radio: has this young dj found a cd that speaks to him in a very direct and meaningful way? Or does he loathe it so much he felt compelled to fling it frisbee style out a window into the dark snowy night? Will the cd make its way back to the studio?
To paraphrase Joni Mitchell, I've seen college radio from both sides now.

Big Snows
The big snows of winter '09-'10 strike again. This gave me an excuse to watch Obama's Healthcare Bill Reconciliation in its entirety, more or less. Extremely impressive. I felt educated and happy for my country.
For my label and my friends, the weather postponed the mixing of Thee Nosebleeds' self titled debut cd. They and Mike are dedicated. The project will get done. The tracking session was fun, efficient and productive. We have a great product in the works.
As the snow melts, it'll be great to start practicing the new Headflap songs for our 2nd full length and whatever shows we might play. The 2 main BBH retrospective collections, which will contain audio and video, are coming along nicely.
The college radio promo campaign for Headflap's debut cd has been worthwhile, and I continue to think on how much promo can my label afford to offer to the whole roster?

Resolutions
My 2009 resolutions for BBH are to release 5 Weezy Pieces and Mood Stabilizer Vol. 2 no later than March as download only. Physical releases of these might follow at any time, but it is more likely that a Best of however many Mood StaBILIZER VOLUMES THERE WILL BE, WILL BE THE ONLY PHYSICAL RELEASE TO RESULT FROM THAT SERIeS. aT SOME POINT IN 2009, FIRST FIFTEEN (15 SONGS FROM THE FIRST 15 YEARS OF bbh) WILL BE RELEASED, NOT SURE HOW THE DOWNLOAD ONLY/PHYSICAL RELEASE situation will pan out. In a year and a half or more, a FIRST FIFTEEN VOLUME TWO (15 more songs from the first 15 years of BBH) will probably be released. More volumes in the Mood Stabilizer series and the all new GNOME SANE? album will probably not see the light of day in 2009 because
My 2009 resolutions for Headflap, the live arm of BBH, have me prioritizing the quartet over my onemanband BBH activities. Headflap is trying to draw attention to my backlog of material, so it is not like I need to add TONS of material to an already cloged pipeline. So I have a three year plan in mind. It starts with us releasting -- preferably download and physical simultaneously -- the mostly recorded Headflap's version of FIRST 15 (15 songs from the first 15 years of BBH as performed by Headflap) also no later than March... maybe April? and just gigging as much as possible and networking and all the rest. As BBh's 2nd volume of FIRST FIFTEEN gets released, I hope to release twoHeadflap albums COLD SPONGE and WARM DOVER in fairly quick succession (6 to 12 months apart?) throughout 2010 and 2011. The two albums are a 50/50 split of the old BBH stuff and brand new material, only a small fraction of which might appear on GNOME SANE or even maybe a MOOD STABILIZER album. Finally, I hope to try and have Headflap play the 2010 and 2011 CMJ festivals so submitting stuff to their stations in 2009 seems wise.
So there it is. My 2009 resolutions list. Hope you liked 'em. Me, I plan to live them, best I can. In 2009 I'll do what I can to set this 3 year plan in motion. I have ideas what Headflap could do beyond that but a 4 or 5 year plan seems too ambitious. Okay then. Good morning. Have a great day.

Phasing out Headflap.com
For budget reasons, I am phasing out headflap.com as it exists at this time. Pretty much all the info on that site is already being moved to my label site, HumanInhumanRecords.com. This new way of doing things will more clearly show that BBH and Headflap are inter-related projects, but are in fact 2 different bands with separate but similar personalities. I think this one blog will continue to cover both projects. But keep your eyes out for all those other sites like Myspace, ILike, etc where specialized blogs n bulletins will keep cropping up. Deep sigh. This is exactly how I never envisioned it.

So Much Music, So Few Blog Posts
Here we are in mid October and the number of posts for 2008 is still in single digits??? Outrageous I tell you. But I swear the level of commitment to musicmaking has not decreased one iota on the parts of myself and my bandmates.
I've been mainly blogging the lyrics on the Fear of Music myspace page. The live arm and I now share a renewed commitment to feature the songs from that album when we play out. We are taking time this month and next to add a couple more tunes to the repertoire. Meanwhile we will polish current material and new material to record at Second Story Sound on Nov 15. Meanmean while I have recently recorded four songs for Mood Stabilizer vol 2 and 2 new songs for Gnome Sane? -- which will be my next ummmm... "usual" sort of BBH one man band album, completed by maybe late 2009? we shall see...
We really wanna wrap up 2008 with a show either in Philly or Brooklyn and we would love to find longterm booking assistant / agent asap.
